On February 8, 2022, the FBI arrested Ilya Lichtenstein and Heather Morgan for laundering the 119,754 BTC stolen from Bitfinex in 2016. A day earlier, investigators had gained access to a wallet holding 94,636 BTC worth over $3.6 billion — then the DOJ's largest financial seizure.
