On August 6, 2012, the first lawsuit was filed against a company involved with Bitcoin. Four bitcoiners, including Jed McCaleb, the founder of MtGox, sued Bitcoinica exchange, which had been hacked and refused to return customer funds. At that time, $460,000 was at stake.
