💶 Launch of the Euro

January 1, 1999, marks the official launch of the Euro - a currency that today is official for two dozen European countries. Despite high expectations of the positive impact from the introduction of the Euro, the currency behaved similarly to all its fiat counterparts and lost 90% of its value over 25 years of its existence.
